Pro Bono Strategic Plan for Private K-8 School

Situation

A private Catholic school in South Dallas was experiencing declining enrollment and mounting financial instability. The board recognized the need for a sustainable path forward—one that would preserve the school’s mission while adapting to the evolving needs of its surrounding community. 

Action

Over a year-long engagement, KRS partnered closely with the school’s board to develop a strategic plan grounded in both community values and operational realities. 

As part of this process, the KRS team: 

  • Conducted neighborhood research to assess local educational needs and identify service gaps. 
  • Engaged parish families, school staff, and diocesan stakeholders to surface priorities, strengths, and areas for improvement. 
  • Analyzed key operational data, including budget performance, enrollment trends, academic outcomes, and demographic shifts. 
  • Facilitated a collaborative planning process with the board to align financial, academic, and community objectives. 

Together, we helped define a renewed mission and vision for the school and built a multi-year roadmap to guide implementation and future investment. 

Results

KRS delivered a comprehensive strategic plan that included: 

  • A multi-year tuition and financial sustainability strategy 
  • An enrollment growth and retention plan 
  • A capital investment roadmap 
  • New revenue enablers tied to mission-driven innovation 

The plan was unanimously approved by the board and is now guiding the school’s next chapter—reaffirming its role as a cornerstone of the South Dallas community.
